Arizona Diamondbacks

The Diamondbacks won the World Series in 2001, their fourth season, beating the Yankees in seven games — no expansion club had won one sooner. Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling shared the series award between them, having started or relieved in five of the seven games. A second pennant came in 2023.

The best season is 1999, at 100-62, in only the club's second year. The worst is 2004, at 51-111, three years after the title, which is as steep a fall as the game has seen from a champion. Home has been the same downtown park throughout, opened as Bank One Ballpark and now Chase Field, with a retractable roof and, for its first years, a swimming pool beyond the right-field fence.

Two Hall of Famers have played here: Randy Johnson, who won four consecutive Cy Young Awards with the club, and Roberto Alomar. Torey Lovullo has managed since 2017 and won 664 games, more than anyone else who has had the job.
