Daniel Hudson struck out Michael Brantley to end the 2019 World Series, giving Washington its first championship. He had reached that point after two Tommy John surgeries in three years, either of which is usually the end of a career.
He had started out as a starter and won sixteen games for Arizona in 2011, taking a Silver Slugger for his hitting the same year, before the elbow went twice. The rebuild as a reliever took him to seven more clubs and lasted a decade.
Born in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1987, Hudson appeared in 547 games, saved 43 and struck out 817 batters, retiring after the 2024 season having won a second title with the Dodgers.
