Chicago White Sox

Chicago · 1901–2025

The White Sox won the World Series in 1906, 1917 and 2005, and between the second and the third lie 88 years, most of the club's history. The 1919 pennant produced the eighth World Series it played and the scandal that followed it, after which eight players were barred from the game for life. The overall record across 125 seasons is 9,654-9,714, which is 60 games under even.

The best season is 1917, at 100-54, and it ended in a title. The worst is 2024, at 41-121 — the most losses any club has taken in a season since 1901, ahead of the 1962 Mets. The club has played on the South Side throughout, at South Side Park, then Comiskey Park, and then the park across the street from it.

Thirty-six Hall of Famers have played here, among them Ted Lyons, Red Faber, Luke Appling, Nellie Fox, Ed Walsh, Carlton Fisk and Frank Thomas. Jimmy Dykes managed for thirteen seasons and Al Lopez for eleven; Tony La Russa managed the club twice, thirty-five years apart.
