He has been chosen for nine All-Star teams and has led his league in strikeouts three times, once for the White Sox, once for Boston and once for Atlanta. He struck out at least 200 men in each of seven consecutive seasons from 2013 through 2019, with a high of 308 in 2017, and he has 2,579 in all.
Injuries took the middle of his career. The record has no 2020 season for him, and he made nine starts in 2021, two in 2022 and twenty in 2023. In his first year with Atlanta he went 18-3 with a 2.38 earned run average and 225 strikeouts, leading the National League in wins and strikeouts and taking the pitching Triple Crown.
The Cy Young Award, a Gold Glove and Comeback Player of the Year all came in that one season, his fifteenth. He went 7-5 with 165 strikeouts in 2025 and made the All-Star team again. Through that season he stands at 145-88 with an earned run average of 3.01 over 2,084 innings.
