This is a reference site. There is nothing to log in to, nothing to buy, and no reason for it to know who you are.
No accounts, no tracking cookies
The site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics scripts that follow you between sites. Nothing you read here is tied to an identity, because there is no identity to tie it to.
What the server sees
Like any web server, it receives the request itself: the page asked for, the time, your browser's user-agent string, and your IP address. That is what makes serving a page possible. It is used to keep the site running and to find pages that are broken, and it is not sold, shared for advertising, or used to build a profile.
The search box
A search runs against this site's own database. The query is not sent anywhere else and is not stored against you.
Links and images off this site
Photographs are hosted by Wikimedia Commons, so loading a page with a photograph on it means your browser makes a request to Wikimedia and they see it under their own privacy policy. Links to Retrosheet, Wikipedia and the other sources are ordinary outbound links.
If you write to [email protected], that message is kept for as long as it takes to check the correction and fix the page. It is not added to a mailing list.
People on this site
The archive is about people, most of them long dead, and it publishes only what is already in the public record of a professional sport: names, dates, birthplaces, clubs and performance. If you are a living person written about here and something is wrong, write to the address above and it will be corrected.
