Bob Elliott Marquee

b. November 26, 1916 · Pittsburgh Pirates 1939–1946, Boston Braves 1947–1951, New York Giants 1952, St. Louis Browns 1953, Chicago White Sox 1953

Bob Elliott played third base for the Pittsburgh Pirates for eight seasons before moving to the Boston Braves, where he won his Most Valuable Player award in 1947, and later played for the Giants, the White Sox and the Browns before retiring in 1953.

He batted .289 with 2,061 hits over 1,978 games, hitting 170 home runs and driving in 1,195 runs, with 967 walks showing real plate discipline alongside the power.

He was a Baseball Magazine All-Star three times and a Sporting News All-Star twice, on top of his seven All-Star selections between 1941 and 1951.

He was born in San Francisco on November 26, 1916, and batted and threw right-handed. He died on May 4, 1966.
