Bert Haas Marquee

Haas earned his only All-Star selection with Cincinnati in 1947. He hit .286 with 138 hits and a career-high 67 runs batted in across 135 games. A year earlier he had collected a career-high 141 hits and stolen 22 bases.

Nine seasons gave him 644 hits, 93 doubles, 51 stolen bases, 263 runs batted in and a .264 average. He played 311 games at first base, 241 at third and 97 in the outfield. That flexibility helped him handle regular work at several different points in his career.

Haas began with Brooklyn in 1937 and 1938, spent three years away from the majors, then joined Cincinnati in 1942. He moved to Philadelphia in 1948 and to the Giants during 1949. After another year away, 27 final games for the White Sox in 1951 ended his career. He died in 1999, at eighty-five.
