Touchstone debuted with Boston in 1928 and worked eight relief innings across five appearances. He allowed four earned runs for a 4.50 earned run average and struck out one.

Three seasons gave him 12 relief appearances, no decisions, six strikeouts and a 6.53 earned run average in 20 2/3 innings. He allowed 15 earned runs in all. Touchstone never started a game, completed one or recorded a save. His only hit came in his only at bat of 1929.

After one additional Boston appearance in 1929, Touchstone spent fifteen seasons outside the majors. He returned with the White Sox in 1945 and made six final relief appearances, working 10 innings with four strikeouts and a 5.40 average. That comeback stretched his major-league record across eighteen calendar years. Touchstone died in 1949, at forty-six.
