Born March 10, 1906
Altus, OK, USA
Art Herring pitched in the majors in 1929 and again in 1947, and spent large parts of the eighteen years between them in the minor leagues. He was in Detroit for five seasons, out for most of the 1930s, and back with wartime Brooklyn in his late thirties.
The Dodgers used him almost entirely in relief across 1944 to 1946, and he was on the roster for the 1947 pennant race before a trade to Pittsburgh ended it. The whole career amounts to 199 appearances across nine calendar years.
Born in Altus, Oklahoma in 1906, Herring finished 34-38 with 25 complete games and 13 saves. He lived to eighty-nine, dying in December 1995.
