Washington Nationals

The Nationals were 19-31 in May 2019 and won the World Series that October, beating Houston in seven games with every game going to the visiting side — which had never happened in any seven-game series in any of the four major North American sports. Before that year the club had never won a playoff series in fifteen seasons in Washington, or in thirty-six as the Montreal Expos.

The record across 21 seasons is 1,576-1,722 with four division titles. The best season is 2012, at 98-64, the club's first division title; the worst is 2022, at 55-107. Home was R.F.K. Stadium for three years and Nationals Park since 2008.

One Hall of Famer has played here, Iván Rodríguez, at the end of his career. Dave Martinez has managed since 2018, including the title year, and has won 500 games. The club arrived from Montreal in 2005 after three seasons owned by the league itself, which had bought it because nobody else would.
