Born February 14, 1985
Lexington, KY, USA
He appeared in 70 or more games in six seasons, including four straight for Washington from 2011, and pitched 807 in all with a 3.16 earned run average and 956 strikeouts in 872 innings. He was an All-Star in 2011 and 2014 and saved 32 games in 2012 when the Nationals needed a closer.
The delivery was the trick: a high leg kick, a long pause and a release point hitters said they could not pick up, which is why a fastball at 91 miles an hour produced ten strikeouts per nine innings for a decade.
Ten clubs used him and he was traded five times in his last six years. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
