Domingo Germán's Perfect Game
Domingo Germán threw a perfect game for the New York Yankees against the Oakland Athletics on June 28, 2023, winning 11–0.
The Yankees have won 27 World Series, which is more than twice what any other club has won, and 41 pennants across 113 seasons. The titles are not spread evenly: 20 of them came between 1923 and 1962, in a run of four decades during which the club won the pennant in more than half the seasons it played.
The overall record is 10,138 wins and 7,457 losses. The best season on file is 1927, at 110-44; the worst is 1913, at 57-94, ten years before the first title and while the club was still a tenant at the Polo Grounds. It moved into Yankee Stadium in 1923 and won the World Series that year.
Forty-seven Hall of Famers have played here, among them Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Bill Dickey, Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. Joe McCarthy managed the club from 1931 to 1946 and went 1,460-867, the most wins of anyone who has had the job; Casey Stengel and Joe Torre followed him in that order of success.
