Bubbles Hargrave Marquee

Hargrave's best average came for Cincinnati in 1926, when he hit .353 with 115 hits, six home runs and 62 runs batted in across 105 games. He finished sixth in the National League's Most Valuable Player voting. Three years earlier he had set career highs with 126 hits, 10 home runs and 78 runs batted in.

Twelve seasons gave him 786 hits, 155 doubles, 58 triples, 376 runs batted in and a .310 average. He caught 747 games, the only position listed in his fielding record. He hit at least .300 in six consecutive seasons from 1922 through 1927.

Hargrave played briefly for the Cubs from 1913 through 1915, then spent five years outside the majors before joining the Reds. After eight seasons in Cincinnati and another year away, he returned for 45 final games with the Yankees in 1930. Three Hall of Fame ballots gave him one vote apiece. He died in 1969, at seventy-six.
