Alex Rodriguez's 3,000th Hit

Alex Rodriguez had one hit on June 19, 2015, and it left the ballpark. The home run against Detroit was his 3,000th hit, it drove in a run, and New York won 7–2.

He was thirty-nine and had missed the whole of the previous season, suspended for his role in a doping scandal that also cost him a chunk of his reputation and most of his endorsements. The comeback year turned out to be productive: he hit thirty-three home runs as a designated hitter at forty.

Rodriguez had won three Most Valuable Player awards, ten Silver Sluggers and a championship in 2009. He retired in 2016 with 3,115 hits and 696 home runs, fourth on that list, and has not been elected to the Hall of Fame.
