Carlyle's largest workload came with Atlanta in 2007. He made 22 appearances, 20 of them starts, and went 8-7 with 74 strikeouts across 107 innings. Both the starts and innings were career highs.
Nine seasons gave him a 13-13 record, one save, 232 strikeouts and a 5.14 earned run average in 292 innings. Carlyle started 27 of his 150 appearances and never completed a game. In 2008 he shifted fully to relief and posted a 3.59 average with 59 strikeouts across 62 innings.
San Diego brought Carlyle to the majors in 1999 and used him again in 2000. He later returned with the Dodgers in 2005 and the Braves from 2007 through 2009. Further opportunities with the Yankees in 2011 and Mets in 2014 and 2015 extended his record across seventeen calendar years. His last season consisted of 11 relief appearances.
