Miguel Batista Marquee

He wrote a book of poems in Spanish and a suspense novel about a serial killer, both published while he was an active player, and gave interviews about the writing that reporters found more interesting than the pitching. He was also a certified notary in the Dominican Republic.

Eighteen seasons gave him 102 wins against 115, 41 saves and a 4.48 earned run average across 1,956 innings, for twelve clubs. He started 248 games and relieved in 410, saving 31 for Toronto in 2005 and going 16-11 for Seattle in 2007.

He pitched for the Arizona club that won the 2001 World Series and started a game of it. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
