Beimel began as a starter for Pittsburgh, making 23 starts across his first two seasons. By 2006 with the Dodgers he worked exclusively in relief, posting a 2.96 earned run average with two saves across 62 appearances and 70 innings.
Thirteen seasons gave him a 29-34 record, five saves, 379 strikeouts and a 4.06 earned run average in 680 innings. He made 676 appearances without completing a game. His career high was 83 outings for Los Angeles in 2007.
Beimel pitched for Pittsburgh, Minnesota and Tampa Bay before three seasons with the Dodgers. Washington sent him to Colorado during 2009, and he later returned to the Pirates in 2011. After no major-league appearances in 2012 or 2013, he came back with Seattle for 56 games in 2014 and 53 in 2015.
