In October 2019, at thirty-six, he hit a tenth-inning grand slam to win the Division Series at Dodger Stadium, was the most valuable player of the Championship Series, and then hit a two-run home run off the right-field foul pole in the seventh inning of the seventh game of the World Series, which put Washington ahead to stay.
Fifteen seasons gave him 1,747 hits, 354 doubles, 127 home runs and a .294 average, with one All-Star selection. He hit .344 in 2019 and .317 the year before, both as a part-time player after a torn Achilles tendon.
Nine of the seasons were with the Angels, who drafted him in the tenth round in 2002. He is not yet on a Hall of Fame ballot.
