Aníbal Sánchez threw a no-hitter for Florida in September 2006, thirteen starts into his career. Thirteen years later he opened the National League Championship Series for Washington by carrying a no-hitter into the eighth inning, and won a World Series that October.
In between came six seasons in Detroit, including 1,774 career strikeouts and the 2013 American League earned run average title at 2.57, and a stretch of shoulder trouble that had him pitching for a minor league deal by 2018.
Born in Maracay, Venezuela in 1984, Sánchez finished 116-119 across seventeen seasons with a 4.06 earned run average, and returned to Washington for one final year in 2022.
