Félix José was the return in one of the odder trades of 1990, when St. Louis sent Willie McGee to Oakland in August while McGee still led the National League in hitting. José took over in right field and made the All-Star team the following season, driving in 77 runs and stealing 20 bases.
It did not last. He was in Kansas City by 1993, out of the majors after 1995, and spent the rest of the decade playing in Japan and Mexico. He came back for eleven games with the Yankees in 2000 and then for two seasons with Arizona in his late thirties.
Born in Santo Domingo in 1965, a switch-hitter who threw right-handed, José appeared in 747 major league games and batted .280 with 102 stolen bases.
