Brooklyn Robins

Wilbert Robinson managed the club for all 18 seasons it carried his name, going 1,375-1,341 — the club's entire record under the name is his. It took the pennant in 1916 and 1920 and lost both World Series. The name was a newspaper coinage that the club adopted.

The 1916 pennant club won 94 and lost 60. Eleven years on it was 65-88, the poorest under the name. Home for all of it was Ebbets Field. The only unassisted triple play in World Series history was turned against this club, by Cleveland's Bill Wambsganss in 1920. Earlier that same season it played a 26-inning tie against Boston, the longest game the major leagues have recorded.

Ten Hall of Famers played here, among them Zack Wheat, who spent eighteen seasons with the club across two of its names, Dazzy Vance, Burleigh Grimes, Rube Marquard, Max Carey and Al Lopez. Robinson left after 1931 and the club became the Dodgers.
