Schreiber made one relief appearance for Brooklyn in 1922, then worked nine times in 1923. That second season produced his only save, four strikeouts and a 4.20 earned run average across 15 innings.
Three seasons gave him 12 relief appearances, one save, five strikeouts and a 3.98 earned run average in 20 1/3 innings. Schreiber never received a decision, started a game or completed one. At the plate he drove in one run despite going hitless in three at bats.
After his two seasons with Brooklyn, Schreiber spent twenty-one seasons outside the majors. He returned with the Yankees in 1945 and made two final appearances, allowing two earned runs and striking out one across 4 1/3 innings. The comeback extended his major-league record across twenty-four calendar years. He died in 1982, at seventy-nine.
