Jimmy Archer Marquee

Archer set career highs across his 1912 season with the Cubs. He played 120 games, collected 109 hits, hit five home runs, drove in 58 and batted .283. He received Most Valuable Player votes that year, as he also did in 1911 and 1913.

Twelve seasons gave him 660 hits, 106 doubles, 296 runs batted in, 246 runs and a .249 average across 847 games. Archer caught 736 games and played 64 at first base, with only three appearances elsewhere.

Pittsburgh brought him up in 1904, Detroit used him in 1907 and Chicago became his regular home from 1909 through 1917. He returned with Pittsburgh in 1918, then moved to Brooklyn and Cincinnati during the same season. Three Hall of Fame ballots gave him 16 total votes. He died in 1958, at seventy-four.
