New York Lincoln · 1911–1930

The Lincoln Giants played 20 seasons and spent most of them as an independent club, outside the organized Negro leagues, which is why the recorded record of 341-287 covers fewer games than the club actually played. It joined the Eastern Colored League and then the American Negro League late in its life.

Six Hall of Famers played here: John Henry Lloyd, who managed as well and is on more of the club's rosters than anyone; Smokey Joe Williams, who pitched here for eight seasons; Louis Santop, Ben Taylor, Turkey Stearnes and Jud Wilson. Lloyd was called the best shortstop of his generation by people who had also watched Honus Wagner.

Home was Olympic Field in Harlem and later the Catholic Protectory Oval in the Bronx. The club folded in 1930, and the surviving figures for it are thinner than for the league clubs of the same years because independent games were reported less often.
