Luther Farrell pitched and hit, and did both well enough that clubs used him in the outfield on his off days: .311 across 271 recorded games with 21 home runs, alongside 50 recorded pitching wins and 71 complete games.
He was with the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants for their pennant years in 1926 and 1927, and threw a no-hitter in the 1926 Colored World Series against the Chicago American Giants — one of two he is credited with. The New York Lincoln Giants and the Black Yankees had him afterwards.
Born in Bartow, Florida in 1896, Farrell struck out 483 batters in 879 recorded innings. He was sixty when he died, in December 1956.
