Chicago Giants
Frank Leland founded this club in 1910 after losing the court fight with Rube Foster over the Leland Giants name and players. Foster kept the roster; Leland kept a team and called it the Chicago Giants. Five recorded seasons at 46-88.
It was one of the eight clubs that founded the Negro National League in 1920, which is a measure of Foster's willingness to include a rival he had already beaten, and of how few Black clubs there were with the standing to be included. It was among the weakest in the league and left after 1921.
One Hall of Famer appears on its rosters, Smokey Joe Williams. Joe Green managed for most of its life. The recorded figures rest on surviving box scores rather than a complete count of games played.
