Larry Brown caught in the Negro Leagues for twenty-five years and was widely rated the finest defensive catcher in them — a small man with a fast, accurate arm who was said to throw from a crouch without straightening up.
He caught for at least a dozen clubs: Birmingham, Indianapolis, Detroit, the Chicago American Giants, the New York Lincoln Giants, the Harlem Stars, the Black Yankees, the Philadelphia Stars, and Memphis across two long spells. Six East-West All-Star selections came between 1933 and 1941.
Born in Pratt City, Alabama in 1901, Brown batted .261 with 645 hits in the surviving record. He died at seventy on April 7, 1972.

Seasons outside MLB's recognized major leagues appear in All seasons, but not in Major leagues or the leaderboards. For Larry Brown, that is 1930–1932. Why totals can differ.
