Willie Gisentaner threw left-handed and pitched for fifteen clubs the record can name between 1921 and 1936, a list that includes the Chicago American Giants, the Kansas City Monarchs, the New York Lincoln Giants, the Cuban Stars, the Pittsburgh Crawfords and the Homestead Grays.
He also played the outfield in several of those seasons, which was how a club got value from a pitcher on the days between starts. The surviving record credits him with 57 complete games and a .262 average at the plate.
Born in Ozark, Alabama in 1899, Gisentaner struck out 337 batters across 807 recorded innings. Gisentaner's death came in March 1962, at sixty-two.
