Cleveland Buckeyes

The Buckeyes won the Negro American League pennant in 1945 and swept the Homestead Grays in the Negro World Series — the Grays had won the previous three. It was the club's third season. A second pennant followed in 1947. The recorded record across six seasons is 256-175, resting on the box scores that survive rather than a complete count.

Quincy Trouppe managed the 1945 champions while catching for them, going 179-110 across three seasons. Ernie Wright, who owned the club, had moved it from Cincinnati in 1943.

No Hall of Famer played for the club, which is a fact about how short its life was rather than about the 1945 side. Home was League Park and Cleveland Stadium. It folded in 1948 as the major leagues began signing Negro Leagues players and the audience went with them.
