Buddy Armour was an outfielder in the Negro American League through the war years, and the wartime seasons were his best: three of his four East-West All-Star selections came between 1944 and 1947, when he was hitting near .300 for the Cleveland and Chicago clubs.
He batted left-handed and threw right-handed, and appeared for the St. Louis Stars, the New Orleans-St. Louis Stars and the Cleveland Buckeyes among others as those franchises formed and moved.
Born in Madison, Mississippi in 1915, Armour batted .281 with 197 hits and 100 runs batted in across the 189 games for which box scores survive. His life ended on April 15, 1974, twelve days short of his fifty-ninth birthday.
