Born March 11, 1980

No pitcher has worn more uniforms: fourteen franchises, matching Edwin Jackson. He was a Cubs starter at twenty-seven, a Boston reliever at thirty-two, released or let go by six organizations, and pitching in independent ball in 2015 when the Red Sox signed him off a scout's report and he went 2-1 with a 1.55 earned run average in four September starts.
That started the second career. He went 12-5 between Oakland and Los Angeles in 2016 with a 2.12 earned run average, then 12-8 for the Dodgers in 2017, when on August 23 he took a perfect game into the tenth inning at Pittsburgh and lost it and the game on a home run. He threw one of the best curveballs of his generation and almost nothing else.
Twenty-one seasons have given him 90 wins against 76, a 4.02 earned run average, 1,418 innings and 1,432 strikeouts. He pitched for Kansas City in 2025 at forty-five, the oldest man in the major leagues. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
