Jose Iglesias Marquee

He left the Cuban national team during a tournament in 2008 and signed with Boston for $8.25 million two years later. He hit .330 in 215 at bats as a rookie in 2013 and finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting, with five first-place ballots, after Boston traded him to Detroit that July.

Fourteen seasons gave him 1,212 hits, 247 doubles, 506 runs batted in and a .279 average, with 1,051 games at shortstop for eight clubs. He hit .373 through the middle of 2013, which nobody sustains, and settled into a career as a glove-first shortstop who hit enough to keep the job.

He is from Havana. He hit .289 for the 2019 Reds and stayed useful into his mid-thirties, playing for San Diego in 2025. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
