He went 12-4 with a 2.93 earned run average for the 2009 Phillies and finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting to Chris Coghlan. In 2016, for Toronto, he went 20-4, which is the best record any Blue Jay has had, and finished sixth in the Cy Young voting.
Fifteen seasons gave him 133 wins against 100, a 4.13 earned run average, 1,893 innings and 1,661 strikeouts, for eight clubs. He was an All-Star in 2018 at thirty-five.
A line drive off the bat of Desmond Jennings struck him in the head in May 2013 and fractured his skull, and he was pitching again that August. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
