Weathers appeared in 964 games, making 69 starts before relief work took over his career. His other 895 appearances came out of the bullpen. He finished with 73 wins, 75 saves and a 4.25 earned run average across 1,376 innings, struck out 976 batters, and pitched 70 or more games in five seasons.

He won a World Series with the 1996 Yankees after arriving from Florida during the season. At thirty-seven he saved 33 games for Cincinnati in 2007, then recorded a 3.25 earned run average across 72 appearances the following year.

Nine clubs employed him over nineteen seasons, ending with Milwaukee in 2009. He was from Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
