Scott Sanderson Marquee

b. July 22, 1956 · Montreal Expos 1978–1983, Chicago Cubs 1984–1989, Oakland Athletics 1990, New York Yankees 1991–1992, California Angels 1993, 1995–1996, San Francisco Giants 1993, Chicago White Sox 1994

Scott Sanderson won 163 games without ever quite becoming a star, and his one All-Star selection came in 1991, at thirty-four, in his fourteenth season. He won sixteen games for the Yankees that year.

Montreal brought him up in 1978 and he spent six years there in a rotation with Steve Rogers and Bill Gullickson, then six more with the Cubs, where back trouble cost him a great deal of time. Oakland got a healthy season out of him in 1990 and he won seventeen games as they went to the World Series.

Born in Dearborn, Michigan in 1956, Sanderson threw 2,561 innings with 1,611 strikeouts and finished 163-143. His death came on April 11, 2019, at sixty-two.
