Kevin Mitchell played across seven clubs and multiple positions, from third base with the Mets to left field in San Francisco, where his best season came, and closed out his career at designated hitter in Oakland, retiring in 1998.
He hit 234 home runs and batted .284 over 1,223 games, driving in 760 runs in a career built around a relatively short but productive run at the plate.
He was named Most Valuable Player in 1989, the same year he took a Silver Slugger and was named a Sporting News All-Star.
His two All-Star selections came in 1989 and 1990. Mitchell came into the world in San Diego on January 13, 1962 and batted and threw right-handed.
