José Vizcaíno Marquee

b. March 26, 1968 · Los Angeles Dodgers 1989–1990, 1998–2000, Chicago Cubs 1991–1993, New York Mets 1994–1996, Cleveland Indians 1996, San Francisco Giants 1997, 2006, New York Yankees 2000, Houston Astros 2001–2005, St. Louis Cardinals 2006

The Yankees got him from the Mets in a July 2000 trade, and that October he drove in the winning run in the twelfth inning of the opening game of the World Series against the very club that had let him go, then hit a two-run single in the Series-clinching fifth game. New York won in five.

Eighteen seasons gave him 1,453 hits, 204 doubles, 633 runs batted in and a .270 average, playing shortstop, second base and third base for eight clubs — 948 games at short, 434 at second, 227 at third. He never held a starting job for more than three seasons anywhere.

He is from San Cristóbal in the Dominican Republic and finished with St. Louis in 2006 at thirty-eight. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
