He never had more than 350 at bats in a season across his eighteen-year career, platooned against right-handed pitching for most of it, and made the most of limited chances: .270 across his career, with an On-base rate that outran his batting average in most seasons. He was on Baltimore's roster for the 1983 World Series champion.
Eighteen seasons gave him 719 hits, 115 doubles, 26 stolen bases, 402 walks and a .260 average across 634 games in the outfield and 75 at first base for seven clubs. He hit .284 in 1980 for Boston, his best offensive year.
He finished with Minnesota in 1990 at forty. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
