Edwin Encarnación came up at third base with Cincinnati before moving to designated hitter for a seven-year run in Toronto, and later played for Cleveland, the Yankees, Seattle and the White Sox, retiring in 2020.
He hit 424 home runs and batted .260 over 1,960 games, driving in 1,261 runs and scoring 1,099, a power-first career built largely around one skill.
His three All-Star selections came in 2013, 2014 and 2016, the strongest recognized stretch of his time in Toronto.
He was born in La Romana, Dominican Republic, on January 7, 1983, and batted and threw right-handed, moving between third base, designated hitter and first base over a fifteen-season career.
