Miller's busiest season came with Toronto in 2003, when he pitched in 79 games and recorded three saves. He worked 52 innings because many of those appearances were brief. In 2006 with Houston he posted a 3.02 earned run average and struck out 56 across 70 outings.
Thirteen seasons gave him an 18-17 record, 11 saves, 434 strikeouts and a 4.18 earned run average in 523 innings. Only five of his 694 appearances were starts, and he never completed a game.
Detroit brought Miller up in 1996. He later pitched for Houston, Philadelphia, the Dodgers and Toronto before representing Tampa Bay under both its Devil Rays and Rays names. Three seasons with St. Louis followed. In 2011 he moved from the Cardinals to Toronto to Boston, making his last three appearances for the Red Sox.
