He went 13-4 with a 3.73 earned run average in 22 starts for Texas in 2010 and pitched in that year's World Series. Baltimore traded for him in 2011 and moved him to the bullpen within two seasons, where he stayed for the rest of his career.
Sixteen seasons gave him 56 wins, 22 saves, 917 innings and a 4.07 earned run average across 508 appearances for seven clubs. He struck out 639 batters and completed two of his 76 career starts. He saved 11 games for Baltimore in 2014 before settling into setup work.
He never made an All-Star team. He finished with the Mets in 2023 at thirty-seven and is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
