Steve Renko Marquee

He quarterbacked Kansas, was drafted by the Oakland Raiders and by the New York Mets in the same year, and chose baseball. Montreal got him in the Donn Clendenon trade in 1969 and he started 200 games for the young Expos, winning 15 twice.

Fifteen seasons gave him 134 wins against 146, a 3.99 earned run average, 2,494 innings and 1,455 strikeouts. He was 15-11 with a 2.81 earned run average in 1973 and 11-9 with a 3.20 for the 1980 Red Sox at thirty-five.

He was six foot five and had a fastball that stayed good into his late thirties. He was never an All-Star and no Hall of Fame ballot has listed him.
