Stan Javier Marquee

His father Julián played twelve years at second base for the Cardinals and won three World Series. Stan was traded from the Yankees to Oakland in the Rickey Henderson deal in December 1984, at twenty, and played on the Athletics clubs that won three straight pennants and the 1989 World Series.

Seventeen seasons gave him 1,358 hits, 225 doubles, 578 walks, 246 stolen bases and a .269 average across 1,513 games in the outfield. He was a switch-hitter who could play all three outfield positions, which is a job that lasts.

He hit .286 for San Francisco in 1997 and .275 for Seattle in 2000, both at ages when a fourth outfielder is usually finished. He is from San Francisco de Macorís in the Dominican Republic. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
