Ray Mueller Marquee

b. March 8, 1912 · Boston Braves 1935, 1951, Boston Bees 1936–1938, Pittsburgh Pirates 1939–1940, 1950, Cincinnati Reds 1943–1944, 1946–1949, New York Giants 1949–1950

He caught every single game of Cincinnati's 1944 season, all 155 of them, a total also reached that year by Philadelphia's Frank Hayes and since bettered by only Randy Hundley and Jim Sundberg. He hit .286 with 159 hits that year and made his only All-Star team.

Fourteen seasons gave him 733 hits, 123 doubles, 281 runs batted in and a .252 average across 917 games behind the plate for five clubs. He caught for four different organizations across a career built almost entirely on durability and handling a pitching staff.

He finished with the Giants in 1950 at thirty-eight. No Hall of Fame ballot ever listed him. He died in 1994, at eighty-two.
