The left-field seats at Veterans Stadium sold blocks to a group calling itself the Wolf Pack, who came in wolf masks on the days he pitched, which is a thing that happened to a fourth starter with a career record barely above .500 and says something about Philadelphia in those years.

Sixteen seasons gave him 133 wins against 125, a 4.24 earned run average, 2,328 innings and 1,814 strikeouts, with an All-Star selection in 2003, when he went 16-10. Eight clubs used him.

Elbow reconstruction at twenty-nine cost him most of two seasons and he came back to make 34 starts for the Dodgers in 2009 and 33 for Milwaukee in 2010 and 2011. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
