Larry Andersen pitched seventeen seasons and 699 games and is remembered for a transaction he had nothing to do with: in August 1990 Houston sent him to Boston for a minor league third baseman named Jeff Bagwell, who won a Most Valuable Player award and hit 449 home runs for the Astros.

Andersen was a genuinely good reliever, with a slider that produced 758 strikeouts and a career earned run average of 3.15, and he pitched in the World Series for Philadelphia in 1983 and again in 1993. He was also the clubhouse's designated wit, and became a Phillies broadcaster afterwards.

Born in Portland, Oregon in 1953, he saved 49 games and finished 40-39, appearing in the majors across four different decades.
