He was 2-14 across two leagues in 1981 and had a 6.75 earned run average for Detroit the year after, and then he learned to relieve. Minnesota signed him for 1987 and he went 8-1 with a 3.94 earned run average in 47 games for the club that won the World Series, and 8-4, 9-3 and 8-5 in the three years after that.
Atlanta got him for 1991 and he saved 17 games with a 2.24 earned run average for the club that went from last place to the pennant. He was on the mound for a combined no-hitter that September, the middle three innings of it.
Fifteen seasons gave him 67 wins against 62, 32 saves, 1,205 innings and a 3.90 earned run average across 490 appearances. He is from Aguadulce, Panama. He is not on a Hall of Fame ballot.
