Hoot Evers played for the Detroit Tigers across two stretches of his career before a trade to Boston, and closed out his career with brief spells in Detroit again, New York, Baltimore and Cleveland, retiring in 1956.
He batted .278 with 1,055 hits over 1,142 games, hitting 98 home runs and driving in 565 runs across an eleven-season career spread over six different clubs.
His two All-Star selections came in 1948 and 1950, both during his years in Detroit.
Evers's roots trace to St. Louis, Missouri, where he was born on February 8, 1921. He batted and threw right-handed across a career spent moving between the outfield's three positions for five different clubs. He died on January 25, 1991, thirty-five years after his final game.
