Deron Johnson Marquee

b. July 17, 1938 · New York Yankees 1960–1961, Kansas City Athletics 1961–1962, Cincinnati Reds 1964–1967, Atlanta Braves 1968, Philadelphia Phillies 1969–1973, Oakland Athletics 1973–1974, Milwaukee Brewers 1974, Boston Red Sox 1974–1976, Chicago White Sox 1975

In 1965, for Cincinnati, he hit 32 home runs and drove in 130 to lead the league, and finished fourth in the Most Valuable Player voting. He was not an All-Star that year or any other: sixteen seasons, 245 home runs, 923 runs batted in and not one selection.

He hit 34 home runs for the 1971 Phillies, including four in a row across two games in July, which sixteen players have managed. Nine clubs employed him and he played first base, third base and the outfield for most of them.

The Yankees signed him at eighteen and traded him before he was twenty-three. He was a hitting coach for the Angels and Mets afterward. He died of lung cancer in 1992, at fifty-three. The 1982 ballot gave him no votes at all.
