Cleveland Blues
The Blues played six National League seasons at 242-299 and finished third twice, which was as high as they got. The club folded after 1884, when the Union Association's Cincinnati club bought several of its players and the National League let it go rather than compete for them.
The best and worst season on file are the same one — 1884, at 35-77 — because the archive holds a full schedule only for that year; the earlier seasons were shorter. Jim McCormick pitched and managed and won 74 games as manager.
One Hall of Famer played here, Ned Hanlon, who played the outfield before building the Baltimore clubs of the 1890s. Home was Kennard Street Park. Cleveland had no National League club again until 1889.
